Kansas City Renaissance Festival

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival portrays 16th-century life throughout the English countryside. Conducted in Bonner Springs, Kansas, the festival extends for seven spectacular weekends during autumn beginning on Labor Day weekend, including Labor Day and Columbus Day. The festival provides lively entertainment within its more than 15 acres of shaded lanes, which come to life with more than 500 costumed characters, more than 150 artisans, 13 stages brimming with unique, live entertainment, festive and beautiful music, and food befitting royalty. The festival has an immense display of renaissance shows which, include: jousting, fire eating, and zany comedy. In addition, the festival site has a wide range of shops brimming with fine goods including jewelry, glass, and leather goods. The festival also showcases unique games and rides including the special Children’s Realm, filled with games, shows, and crafts. Rides such as the “Crows Nest” and “Slay a Dragon” are attractive to younger audiences. In addition, the Marketing and Entertainment division of the festival has arranged a Living History Tour, which helps the visitors to learn about the renaissance period. A handful of special events are also arranged by them as part of the history tour such as Queen's Tea, Royal Cigar Smoker, and themed weekends. Among the presentation is the Celtic Harmonies, which consistently attracts a large number of fairgoers. As visitors enter the festival site, musicians awaken their senses by the sounds of the harp, hammered dulcimer, bagpipes, and mandolin. Costumed characters visually enhance the visitor’s trip back in time. The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is filled with fun, adventure, chivalry, education, and art, and is an out-of-the-ordinary treat for the whole family.
