National University

Established in 1971, National University is the second-largest private, accredited, and nonprofit institution of higher education in California. This university, affiliated with the National University System, specializes in adult education and accelerated learning. The university has campuses in California, Hawaii and Nevada. The main campus is based at San Diego, California. Academic centers are located in 11 major-metropolitan areas of California and on military bases throughout Southern California. National University awards more than 60 career-focused undergraduate and graduate degrees, a traditional credential program, a variety of intern programs, and extended learning programs. Disciplines include business, technology, criminal justice, computers, education, human services, nursing, counseling, arts and sciences, and more. A flagship in online education, the university provides more than 35 online graduate and undergraduate degree programs as well as online credential and certificate programs. The National University Library System (NULS) supports the educational and research needs of the students and the faculty. The university’s library has branches throughout the state. National University has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and the Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, since 1977. In addition, the institution is approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. It is also a member of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association of Intensive English Programs.
